SECTION 22 13 19.01 – TRENCH DRAINS

PART - 1 GENERAL
 
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
 
1.2 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes the following sanitary drainage piping specialties:
1)    Trench Drains.
 
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A.     Product Data: For each type of product indicated.
 
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.     Drainage piping specialties shall bear label, stamp, or other markings of specified testing agency.
B.     Installation shall be performed by TDA certified installers.

PART 2- Products
 
2.1 Ulma ULK100-K-[3][6][10][13][16][20][23][26][30][33][36][40][43][46][50][53][56][60][63][66][70][73][76][80][83][86][90][93][96][99] Ft. Complete Kit.
 
A. Complete kit shall include:
1. Required number of 1 meter channels.
2. Required number of [GN100KCA, Load class "A", 1 meter, galvanized steel, slotted, grates.] [GP100KCA, Load class "A", 1 meter, galvanized steel, perforated, grates.] [PNH100KCAM, Load class "A", 0.5 meter, composite, black, slotted, grates.] [PNH100KCAM-G, Load class "A", 0.5 meter, composite, gray, slotted, grates.] [PE100KCBM, Load class "B", 0.5 meter, composite, mesh, grates.] [IN100KCA, Load class "A", 1 meter, stainless steel, slotted, grates.] [GEHX100KCB, Load class "B", 1 meter, galvanized steel, mesh, grates.] [FNHX100KCCM, Load class "C", 0.5 meter, ductile iron, slotted, grates.] [FNX100KCCM, Load class "C", 0.5 meter, ductile iron, slotted, grates.]
3. 5.12" nominal width trench drain shall be provided with 3.93" internal channel width and radiused bottom. Interconnecting sections shall be made of  polymer concrete with galvanized steel edges..
B. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Trench Drain Supply #ULK100-K of length indicated.
1. Fall: [Flat][Presloped].
2. Installation Brackets: [Yes][No].
3. Grate shall be as specified above.
4. In addition to channels & grates drain shall include:
a. One End Cap with 4" Outlet
b. One Solid End Caps. "Installation may require two solid endcaps & deletion of End Cap with 4" Outlet."
c. Bottom outlet cutouts shall be included.
 
PART 3 – EXECUTION
3.1 Installation: 
A.     Refer to Division 22 Section "Common Work Results for Plumbing" for piping joining materials, joint construction, and basic installation requirements.
B.     Install trench drains where indicated on the drawings. 
1)    Position trench drains for easy access and maintenance.  Notify Architect if proper positioning is not indicated.
2)    Set trench drains below elevation of surrounding finished floor to allow floor drainage. Set with grates depressed according to the following drainage area radii: 
a       Radius, 30 Inches or Less: Equivalent to 1 percent slope, but not less than 1/4- inch total depression. 
b       Radius, 30 to 60 Inches: Equivalent to 1 percent slope. 
c       Radius, 60 Inches or Larger: Equivalent to 1 percent slope, but not greater than 1- inch total depression. 
3.2    Install flashing collar or flange when trench drains are not installed in slab on grade so no leakage occurs between drain and adjoining flooring. Maintain integrity of waterproof membranes where penetrated. 
3.3    Install individual traps for trench drain outlets connected to sanitary building drain, unless otherwise indicated.
a       Piping installation requirements are specified in other Division 22 Sections. Drawings indicate general arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties.
b Install piping adjacent to equipment to allow service and maintenance.
3.4 Protection: 
A.     Protect drains during construction period to avoid clogging with dirt or debris and to prevent damage from traffic or construction work.
B.     Place plugs in ends of uncompleted piping at end of each day or when work stops.
